Slow Cooker Hobo Dinner Packets

Slow Cooker Hobo Dinner Packets

from Cari Garrison

Easy dinner idea, especially with it still over 100° here, no oven or standing over grill. We really wanted to make this for my granddaughter because she has liked it ever since her camp experience with it. The kid wants carrots…I’m not going to argue with that!

Maybe you’re out of charcoal or propane…or maybe you have a busy day?
Here’s a campfire dinner without the fire.

I included a video oven or grill version below that I found posted on Facebook by Party Panda

Ingredients:

Ground Beef
Favorite burger seasoning
Salt & Pepper
Onion chopped
Potatoes diced
Carrots cut small
Aluminum Foil

Directions:

Place large squares of foil out. Then put a ground beef patty in the middle of each square. Add seasoning, salt and pepper to both sides.
Put chopped onions on burger, then the diced potatoes on top of that.
Put sliced carrots on top of the onions and potatoes. Season veggies with salt & pepper.
Place packets (okay so she made more like softballs) in slow cooker, stacking if necessary (or a second cooker if making a lot) set cooker on high for 4 – 6 hours. Rotate packets halfway through for even cooking. Ours was done in 4 hours.

Mis en Place!

Have ingredients in place/ready to put together.

& SCORE!

but our slow cooker has a high high 😀 so it was done in 4 hours. If we would’ve left it for the 5 the meat would’ve been tough/dry…you know. It left beef juices in bottom of packet 😀
