Cobb salad was created at the Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood. As with many “how this began stories” We don’t know how much is actual fact, but here is the official story from the Brown Derby themselves.
The Famous Brown Derby Restaura.
My version here certainly wasn’t for company 😀 Just a quick self serve ♡ ‘without’ all the ingredients of original or authentic Cobb Salad. But then…you’ll find that recipes show quite a flexibility; not only going with what you like best, but also what you have on hand; with a couple/few musts to make it qualify to be called Cobb. The lettuce, hard bold eggs, a diced protein, crumbled or chopped bacon, creamy dressing…many would say avocado & tomatoes.
There’s a good recipe on the link above…here it is again https://kitchenproject.com/history/CobbSalad.htm
My version ‘on this occasion’ I’ll call …
Pococurante Cobb Salad
Chopped iceberg and romaine lettuces
Small diced chicken (or turkey, ham)
Crumbled bacon
Hard-boiled eggs
Crumbled Bleu Cheese (or roquefort)
I used a Bleu Cheese Dressing
*I’ve also used ranch & buttermilk ranch ♡
They typically also have avocados (and tomatoes). And…the ingredients are lined up until served.
