Snippets of My Family’s Thanksgiving 2017

No recipes, this is simply little snippets of our experience in 2017. Starting at my house with me and daughter #2 making our dishes to take there (mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole), then onto daughrer #1’s house; where our family and my son-in-law’s family were all invited. That’s a lot of people…his family is many; they also have 3 grown children BUT they have 9 (or is it 10 now? Lost track) grandchildren. Whereas I have 3 (3&3) ♡♡♡ THEN the next day at my house we made another thanksgiving dinner…because we love having all the leftovers 😆 ➼ 🐓🍳💖🍴♨ By the way…I didn’t snap pics of half the food, nor people; hence the word ‘snippets’ 😀

My daughter showed me a trick I didn’t know about…wooden spoons keep water from boiling over. I so thought she was silly that I had to Google it and wow, she was right. However, I won’t be doing that often because it will, over time, warp the wooden spoons.

The deliciously whipped, seasoned, buttered and creamy sweet potatoes are topped with a chopped nut (walnuts or pecans), brown sugar & butter topping.

We kept the mashed potatoes warm with a slow cooker. Which was also tasty potatoes, butter, farm fresh cream, salt & pinch of pepper.

As we drank fresh eggnog

Now to daughter #1’s house…

Throwing in her garden since the fresh herbs used came from there.

THAT was a GOOD day.

Now it’s onto the next day, making another turkey dinner at my home.

Our bird ‘just’ fit in roasting pan….

Over stuffed, buttered and seasoned turkey. The stuffing was made closely typical; celery, onions, butter, homemade stock from my freezer, sage sausage and seasonings.

Frozen homemade broth, but thawed QUICK

Both ends stuffed. Inards are on low in sauce pan for gravy

More sweet potatoes, green beans, more mashed potatoes, gravy, a jar of daughter #1’s cranberry relish.

I made stock from turkey stock too…of course, with carcass, carrots, celery, onions, seasonings, herbs & Better Than Bouillon; a BIG pot.

For them, I blurred pic; they just wanted to eat, lol.

You know how these end. And daughter #2 did dishes. I didn’t blur this one on purpose, lol, I was probably tripping over a dog.

The only thing better than the food…is family. As much as I like food, nature, sounds from nature and good music…is the sound of of happy family.

Well…it doesn’t work to capture the sound of birds when there’s no work or school (weekends, holidays) HOWEVER, I LOVE the sound of FAMILY as much ➳ What Matters ➺ 😉 💓 🌞 🌴 🐦 🐝 💕♫ ♪☮ a convivial atmosphere ➺ 🐶 ❤ 🐾 🐾 🐕
